Why Does Everything Need A Damn App

During my Post “Swine of the Week: Lenovo Group Limited” I brought up how I had the misfortune of setting up a modern printer; why the hell does everything need a godforsaken app now?Another thing is why in the ever loving hell can’t we just get a simple printer with a USB cable, while yes there was a USB port on the printer self it did NOT include the proper USB Cable or anything of the sort leaving me forced to help set up the printer using the built-in Wi-Fi of the printer and a smartphone app.

Truly this is one of the most annoying and frustrating facts I find about printers; it’s not the ink cost or anything like that, it’s the fact they have become so user awkward and inconvenient when it comes to how it functions.

We have had standards for printers since the 1980s, and I’ve got an old school LaserJet printer from the mid-2000s that still works like a charm to this day along with being able to get new toner whenever I need, no issue.

Sadly, to get the Canon printer to work first I had to install a damn app since the web-interface was not working properly.

Once that happened, it took me about six attempts to get the devices to pair properly so I could put the printer onto the main network for the user.

It was only meant to take about 20 minutes yet sadly this slowly became a multi-hour nightmare for me as I had to not only get the printer to show up but get multiple buggy Windows 11 computers to try and see this Canon printer.

I am reminded of Good Omens Season 1; where Crowley [played by David Tennant] didn’t really do evil deeds, rather he just did things to inconvenience people.

I swear, whoever at Canon designs the firmware for their printers is that style of evil, there is no other reason for such a god awful system.

If someone or anyone from Canon is reading this, please, hang whoever developed the damn printer software and firmware by their ankles so some blood can get to their brains for once since clearly the the developers aren’t doing their jobs.

Just put a damn USB cable in the box! That is all I want; bring back Plug and Play

Until next time
